Chaplaincy Services

The spiritual dimension is an important element in the healing process.  Chaplains assist persons to get well by helping them utilize their spiritual resources in dealing with crisis.  They contribute to a holistic style of care that honors the needs of bode, mind, and spirit.

McFarland chaplains are theologically educated, clinically trained and board certified by either The Association of Professional Chaplains http://www.professionalchaplains.org or The National Association of Catholic Chaplains http://www.nacc.org. The chaplain is trained in listening and supporting on spiritual and emotional levels. Their listening skills are framed in a theological background, stressing the ministry of presence and acceptance.

Currently the following institutions are served by the Chaplaincy Services Division:

  • Healthcare: Children’s Hospital; Touro Infirmary; West Jefferson Medical Center
  • Long-term care: Covenant Nursing Home, St. Anna’s Residence, St. Margaret’s, Woldenberg Village
  • Criminal justice: New Orleans Police Department; Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office
