The spiritual dimension is an important element in the healing
process. Chaplains assist persons to get well by
helping them utilize their spiritual resources in dealing with
crisis. They contribute to a holistic style of care that
honors the needs of bode, mind, and spirit.
McFarland
chaplains are theologically educated, clinically trained and
board certified by either The Association of Professional
Chaplains

or The National Association of Catholic Chaplains

The chaplain is trained in listening and supporting on
spiritual and emotional levels. Their listening skills are
framed in a theological background, stressing the ministry
of presence and acceptance.

served by the Chaplaincy Services Division:
- Healthcare: Children’s Hospital; Touro Infirmary;
West Jefferson Medical Center
- Long-term care: Covenant Nursing Home, St. Anna’s
Residence, St. Margaret’s, Woldenberg Village
- Criminal justice: New Orleans Police Department;
Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office
Chaplaincy Services provides pastoral care and consultation to
individuals, groups, and institutions. Thousands of
personnel and their families utilize chaplaincy services
monthly.
